Adjusting to the Altitude

Adjusting to high altitude in Vail can be challenging, especially if you're not used to the thinner air. Here are some tips to help you acclimate:

Drink plenty of water before and during your stay. Altitude can dehydrate you faster, so aim for at least 8-10 glasses a day.

On your first day, avoid strenuous activities. Allow your body time to adjust gradually. Light walking or gentle activities are better.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine, as both can contribute to dehydration and exacerbate altitude sickness. If you choose to drink, do so in moderation.

Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help your body cope with the altitude. Focus on carbohydrates and avoid heavy, fatty foods.

Gentle walks or light hikes can help your body acclimate more quickly. Just be sure to listen to your body and take breaks as needed.

If you experience headaches, nausea, dizziness, or shortness of breath, please contact us so we can provide assistance.
